The Cross Was Never Plan B

Before the first star lit the sky or the first blade of grass pierced the earth, the cross was already in the heart of God. Redemption was not an afterthought, not a desperate fix to an unexpected failure. It was the eternal plan, born from a love so deep and fierce that nothing—not even the fall of man—could derail it. When Adam reached for the forbidden fruit, the shadow of the cross had already fallen across the garden.

This is a right of Americans written into the Bill of Rights by our founding fathers. In the declarations, Americans are guaranteed Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

The term originates from the Greek word "μάρτυς" (martys), meaning "witness." After traveling to a large Indian city to study God’s Word for several days, a group of young Christians returned to their predominantly Muslim village emboldened in their Christian faith. The youth, all of whom were related as either siblings or cousins, had come to know Jesus Christ through the witness of older relatives. After studying God’s Word, something impossible for many of their parents who cannot read, they learned firsthand the cost of following Christ in their Muslim community. But when everything seemed hopeless, the Holy Spirit led them and others to boldly stand for Jesus.

In the context of Scripture, it refers to the act by which God’s righteous wrath against sin is satisfied or appeased. It highlights how a just and holy God deals with the penalty of sin while offering mercy. In the Berean Standard Bible, this concept appears in key New Testament passages such as Romans 3:25 and 1 John 2:2, where Christ’s sacrificial death is presented as the means of propitiating God’s wrath on behalf of sinners.
